The World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world, with over a billion football (soccer) fans following their team. Played every four years, it brings together the best players from 32 different countries to compete for the FIFA World Cup trophy. The teams each have to qualify to play in the World Cup, which occurs in the two years prior to the event.
