For its final home game of the season on Senior Day, Southern Virginia will host familiar NAIA-foe Webber International on November 3 at 1 p.m. EDT at Robert E. Bobby Williams Field.

Kelly Scott begins his sixth season as the head football coach at Webber International and tenth season on the coaching staff since the Warriors inaugural season in 2002.

The Warriors rushing attack is led by running back Brendan DeShiel who has recorded a team-leading 383 yards on the ground with five touchdown runs. Also look for Larry Gaskins and Zach Day to contribute having gained 198 and 160 yards respectively.

After the Pioneers were forced to punt for the seventh time, Southern Virginia finished a 13-play, 47-yard drive that took off 7:02 late in the third quarter on Jones second touchdown pass of the game as he hit sophomore wide receiverMichael Kilstrom(Upper Arlington, Ohio) for four yards to extend the lead 14-0.

FreshmanFrank Taitano(Washington, D.C.) led the Knights rushing attack with 54 yards on 12 carries.

Webber International is well-coached and is always a tough opponent, said Fitzgerald. We expect nothing less than a hard-fought battle on Saturday with the team that makes the least mistakes winning the game.

Hall (Redding, Calif) took down Alfred States quarterbacks Joey Frendo and Colton Caldwell one time each to give him 9.5 sacks in nine games. After breaking the single-season sacks record last Saturday against Concordia-Selma, Hall now holds the programs career record with 13.5 sacks eclipsing Tommy Davidsons (2008-11) previous mark of 10.5.

Within the defensive backfield, senior defensive back Steven Willis ranks second on the team with 79 total tackles (50 solo, 29 assisted) and is tied for the lead with two interceptions.

The ten seniors this year have proven to be cornerstones of our football program and great leaders for this seasons team, said fourth-year Head Coach DeLane Fitzgerald. The game will be a great environment as we commemorate our seniors in their last home contest at Southern Virginia University.

Webber Internationals signal caller this season is sophomore Kentrall Mims who has completed 57.8% of his passes and has a team-high 404 passing yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Warriors defense is led by senior linebacker Nathan Keller who has recorded team-highs with 95 tackles (45 solo, 50 assisted), 14.5 tackles-for-loss and seven quarterback sacks.

DeLane Fitzgerald is in his fourth season as head football coach at Southern Virginia and is in his eleventh year of coaching collegiate football, making previous stops at his alma mater James Madison University (NCAA DI-FCS), the University of Tennessee at Martin (NCAA DI-FCS) and Bethel College (NAIA).

Fitzgerald became the winningest coach in Southern Virginia footballs nine-year history last season, passing Mike Smith who went 9-13 overall from 2007-08.

The offense is averaging 179.9 yards of total offense through nine games. The Warriors average 100-plus yards on the ground through so far, accounting for 60% of their offensive output.

Scott attended Manchester College where he played as a defensive back for three years before transferring to Indiana University where he received his bachelors degree at Indiana University.

After dropping the previous four road contests this season, the Southern Virginia University football team earned its first win away from home on Saturday defeating Alfred State College 21-6 behind a solid defensive performance.

In his three-plus years as Southern Virginias head coach, Fitzgerald has posted a 14-28 overall record, including back-to-back 4-7 season in 2010 and 2011.
