I have had a great experience at this store. Very down to earth people, made me feel at home right away. Including the friendly cat, i look forward to seeing everyone in the store when i am in town. I am surprised that others had anything negative to say. Maybe they just expect a good ass kissing upon arrival. Prices are competitive, but the fact they carry so many different calibers/types of ammo is why i keep going back. They even let me store my magazines there when i go back to Canada (no pistol mags over 10 rnds there). Support your local gun stores. Wholesale aint going out of business any time soon.

I should really read my own reviews before going back to places. The larger sporting good store, Sportsmans Warehouse (or whatever its called this week….another story altogether) was closed today so we stopped by Montana Outdoor Sports. I walked into the store and the VERY FIRST thing I hear is the owner saying, Well, lets see how much youve worked in the last month so you dont think Im F***ing you. Id like to take this time to mention that I had my children with me. I should have left then, but hey, Im a glutton for punishment I guess. We looked around a bit and I asked to see a Gerber Knife that I thought looked pretty cool. The owner hands it to me and then, in a store full of guns, proceeds to tell me how sharp the knife is and how they are so sharp that they make him nervous. I felt his pain, a dull knife is much less nerve wracking. Of course, then when I handed it back to him he starts fiddling with it to see how fast he can get it to open. Perhaps the owner needs some knife safety classes. As we were leaving the store mascot, a cat, was begging to get inside from the sidewalk that borders a very busy street. I think they dont like their mascot anymore.

I have to say that I agree with Mike A on this one. The employees are extremely rude and seem almost put out when you ask for help. The store is not only poorly organized, it is very dirty and dusty as well. A lot of their prices are on the higher side and there are definitely cleaner, friendlier, cheaper places to shop for your sporting good needs in Helena.

The reason I give them 4 stars is only because of employees like Lisa and Matt. They have always been helpful and gone out of their way to assist me.
