Riverview High School is thrilled for Coach Johnson; however, he will certainly be missed. Johnson served as RHS head football coach for six years. His work ethic, energy, enthusiasm and passion for the program has served the Riverview athletic community well. Moreover, his talent in the classroom will be hard to replace.
Born in Rivne, Ukraine and lived in North Port, FL since July 1998. Graduated from North Port High School in top ten of his class, then attended Webber International University where he played offensive left tackle and earned his BS in Finance and MBA in International Business. While he was earning his MBA was graduate Sports Information Director, where he oversaw all athletic public relations. Married his sweetheart, Oksana, summer 2014.
Graduated from RHS in 1998, played for the University of Florida Gators for 4 years, the Chicago Bears for 4 years, the St Louis Rams for 2 years and the Buffalo Bills for 1 year…(see below) Coach Johnson has stepped down as the Ram Boys Leader 2017. His loving wife, Shannon, daughtersLyla and Campbell &son Brody are still his biggest fans!
Born and raised in Sarasota, graduated from Cardinal Mooney (1995). Played football at Georgia Southern University winning a National Title with GSU in 1999. Had taught physical education at Cardinal Mooney for 15 years as well as coached football. Left Head Coach position at Cardinal Mooney after 8 years. He and his wife have four children, Jackson, Madison, Hope and Trey. This is his 3rd year with the Riverview Rams.
Born in Akron, OH, graduat-ed from Archbishop Hoban HS in 1964. Attended the University of Louisville on a football scholarship, graduating in 1968 with a degree in History. After college, he played professional football for 3 yrs until an injury cut his playing career short. Worked for the US Postal Service for 32 years retiring in 2007. John currently works as a substitute teacher at RHS and has coached football here for the past 28 years.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY, 1989 graduate of RHS having played on the 1988 State Runner Up Team and Washburn University, where he played Defensive Back, All Conference MIAA. Son of Cayll, former Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker Coach for RHS in the 80s. Travis and his lovely wife, Diana, have one son, TJ.
Born in London, OH, Graduated from RHS in 1989. Attended the US Naval Academy 19891994 where he played Tight End / Defensive Tackle. Has coached at Marine Military Academy, Western New Mexico University, Cardinal Mooney, Sun Devils and freshman at RHS. Married to Katherine with three children, Arianna, Eli & Aiden.
Graduate of RHS in 1999 and Eastern Michigan University, has returned to coach coach Defensive Backs. Loving father of two sons, Marvin and Marvon and one daughter Jazlynn.
Played offensive line and was MVP his senior year at Venice High in 2009. Played at Rocky Mountain College, MT, right and left guard then left tackle as a junior. Transferred to Warner University for his senior year, graduated with a bachelors degree in general Studies – exercise science, physical education and business management. While working on his Masters Degree in the Science of Management he lost his older sister to Crohns Disease at the age of 28. She was the strogest person he knew and meant everything to him. Mike will resume his studies and achieve his Master Degree goal for Vanesa.

Former Quarterback and Offensive Player of the Year 1996, Graduated RHS in 1997, Played Free Safety and QB with the Roman Ducks of the European Football League.
At this time, Riverview High School has named Offensive Coordinator Josh Smithers, as Interim Head Coach. Smithers has worked with the RHS program for the past two years and previously served as head football coach of Cardinal Mooney for eight years. He will remain interim head coach until the school works through the hiring process for naming a permanent replacement. In the meantime, Riverview is extremely fortunate to have Coach Smithers continue the tradition of excellence the program has established during the past six years under the leadership of Coach Johnson.
Graduated from Cardinal Mooney in 2000. Earned three letters at tight end for the Irish and graduated from Notre Dame in 2004. Served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and receivers coach at Cardinal Mooney High School (2005-2014), where he installed the spread offense. Most recently served as offensive analyst at USF in 2015. Married to Rachael, a Riverview alum, and has three daughters, Jordyn, Devyn and Reese.
